North Idaho Christian Based Marriage and Family Care

Should I Seek Counseling?
Individuals, Couples and Families are seeking counseling because they are experiencing some level of pain, confusion, frustration, or at times, even devastation in their life or relationships. These experiences overwhelm our ability to objectively view solutions in a healthy environment.
My passion is for families and how they expose our dignity and depravity. Relationships reveal significant aspects of who we are and designed to be. When individuals are in pain, it directly impacts the family in varying ways.
I hope you will ask God to lovingly and supernaturally guide you to whom He wants you to work through at this time in what you are experiencing.
Areas of Focus
Counseling Care & Spiritual Direction
My experience combines Family Studies, Individual Spiritual Formation, and Marriage and Family Development. Both my Master’s education and current Doctoral program approach with the individual reflect my view of a Biblical perspective on the emotional, spiritual, and physical parts of our being. My approach in our times together will be grounded in the belief that psychology can reveal much about how God has created your heart and mind and how those dynamics impact your life experiences and relationships with others. But, I am guided by the conviction that only by personally engaging with the spiritual dynamics that drive the feelings and behavior can you come to know yourself and God in a way that brings deep healing and true freedom to you and enables you to love others well.
Confidentiality
Your shared information in counseling is confidential and will not be discussed or released to anyone. The exceptions to this policy are as follows: I am required by law to report when there is sufficient cause to believe that life is in danger or when you appear suicidal. I must also report child abuse, sexual abuse, elder abuse, or intentions to harm others. If you have any questions or reservations about the policy regarding confidentiality, then please contact me to further discuss these guidelines.
Medical Insurance Coverage:
There have been questions about whether I take insurance or whether sessions with me will be covered by their medical insurance. The simple answer is ‘no.’ However, there are important reasons I’ve chosen to practice as a faith-based counselor rather than a licensed counselor by the State of Idaho. Insurance companies traditionally do not cover unlicensed, faith-based counseling. However, if your work provides reimbursement, I can provide a receipt for our sessions that can be turned in to your employer.
I am a faith-based counselor and practice as such under Idaho State Law (ID Code Title 54 Chapter 34, Subsection 3402). Under Idaho Law, it is essential to understand that this is part of a ministry and should not be construed as a licensed environment.
